Her long straight lustrous black hair falls behind her neatly brushing gently her red dress as she walks the aisle of her office corridor. “Morning Cleopatra!”. She smiles and greets her colleagues back. She is the admiration and envy of many women and the lust of every man. Yea…in their wildest dream as Clepatra only settles for a HERO …. A man who is loved by millions and yet she shall be the only lady in his enormous heart. As her nickname suggests Cleopatra knew all along that she was born with such power and charm. She seems to have it all – beauty, such poise, intelligence, physics, character and personality.
Today marks one of the most important and memorable milestones in her life. She knows this very day will come for she has faith in herself and in her HERO. She carries on her steps with poise turning the door knob open. As she pushes the door, her heart skips a beat. There she sees for the very first time her SOULMATE in person.
They exchange eye contacts. She greets him warmly. Her smile captures his heart. Her hero is mesmerized by her beauty and grace…those big dark brown eyes seem to sparkle even more and she could feel her heart swells in great delight. She feels not only butterflies but the entire zoo like the one from Madagascar movie is getting wild in her stomach. Her long French manicured fingers landed on her stomach as she softly breaks the silence, “Oh my GUT!”. Her HERO laughs and then some ;)

Healthy gut, healing my gut… oh I say it with so much passion. Yes, I am a passionate person and it is not very difficult for me to carry out something that I believe in with so much conviction and passion. Passion is in fact my middle name. I know I have been raving about healing my gut all the time. Do you know why? It is because the gut that we have in our body is like the master key to the overall health. Our current lifestyle is pretty toxic and the gut houses all the toxins in our body. Unhealthy gut resulting in many health issue. So let’s get first thing right first and that is by healing the gut (if it is already compromised, which I am pretty sure many of us have compromised guts due to years of abusive eating lifestyle) and maintaining a healthy gut (which I hope to enter into this stage eventually).
I am all for taking care of myself and it is indeed a form of showing gratitude. So I am passionate about healing my already compromised gut so that someday soon I shall be able to sustain my healthy gut again like how I used to be. Therefore, I am passionate about focusing on gut health as a form to tackle my allergies at the root. The key here is to adopt a healthy and sustainable healthy gut lifestyle. Yeap!
In addition to the elimination stage I have embarked on by following a low histamine & paleo auto-immune diets, I also understand that elimination without putting into my system what is good for the healing process would be incomplete. Therefore, introducing good probiotic is a great place to start and incredibly important, but it’s also really important to eat probiotic-rich foods in addition to low histamine foods/allergy free foods.
I am very careful now about what I introduce to my body. I continue to stay away from dairy foods and therefore dairy-based yoghurt is out of the list of consumption. I decided to make my own yoghurt that is dairy free, gluten free, sugar free and also fresh 100% natural with no preservatives, additives and colourings. This is great news to those who are allergic or intolerance to dairy products. Now you can enjoy this GUT-LOVING-YOGHURT which I have coined its name as LoVeGhurt.
Cleopatra Meets LoVeGhurt Recipe
(adapted from Nilam's posted on Facebook)
Fresh Coconut Water from 1 Whole Young Coconut
2 Young Coconut meats (pulps)
Probiotics Powder from 2 capsules of Probiotics supplements (I use Lacto-5 Brand)
1 Mason Jar with Lid
Blend all ingredients in a blender until creamy and smooth. Make sure the consistency is smooth and creamy – not too water or thick. If it is too watery then add more coconut meats and if it is too think then add more coconut water. When I did it, it was just perfect and I didn’t have to do any adjustment.
Then pour into a glass jar with a lid. I chose this Fido Mason Jar as I found them to be very air-tight which is required for proper fermentation to take place overnight under room temperature on your kitchen counter. I actually allowed it to stand for 14 hours before opening it and then refrigerate to enjoy!
I was very excited to open it this morning. It was indeed my first experiment and it was successful. This Coconut LoVeGhurt has a smooth creamy texture and it tastes aromatic tangy. I served it with berries. Just be creative and leave it to your imagination and taste-venture. You can add it into your smoothie or throw in some nuts or seeds, dried fruits etc. (though these are not permitted for low histamine intolerance folks)…basically the creativity is limitless.

So, I seem to be big on COCONUTS huh?? Well it is so, because it is the only alternatives to milk that I can consume for now while healing my gut. In contrast to norm beliefs and myths, coconut is very nutritious, satisfies hunger really well, good for heart health, and also increases the metabolism. Additionally, they also provide other goodness to us such as:
1. Anti-oxidants: Aids to protect the body from free radicals and promotes a youthful appearance and healthy skin. Apply coconut oil on your cleaned skin daily before going to bed and you will see that your skin will glow over a period of time.
2. Anti-fungal properties: Coconut is used in modern medicine to help kill the fungi and yeasts that cause candida overgrowth, etc.
3. Anti-inflammatory: Aids to reduce any irritation that may be caused by hemorrhoids and improves bowel function. Improves Digestion and many of the symptoms and inflammatory conditions associated with digestive and bowel disorders, by supporting absorption of other nutrients including vitamins, minerals, and amino acids while also providing beneficial dietary fiber.
4. Others include supporting thyroid function, helps to adsorb calcium and magnesium as well as other vitamins, minerals and amino acids. AKA – better absorption, healthier body and strong teeth and bones, helps with weight management as it helps to speed up the metabolism rate
5. Low Glycemic Index (GI) measures how fast available carbohydrates in food raise blood sugar levels. Coconut fiber slows down the release of glucose, therefore requiring less insulin to utilize the glucose and transport it into the cell where it is converted into energy. Coconut also assists in relieving stress on the pancreas and enzyme systems of the body, in turn, reducing the risks associated with Diabetes.
6. Beauty remedy: the essential fats, amino acids, vitamins and minerals aid in development of healthy looking hair and skin. Introducing coconuts in your healthy lifestyle choices will brighten your smile (since you actually have teeth when you smile) as Coconuts also helps to prevent tooth decays which may be a concern area for vegans if somehow their diet may not be sufficient in converting Vitamin K1 to K2 effectively. A big beautiful smile with healthy teeth goes along way ;)
This Coconut LoVeghurt is suitable for vegan - dairy free, lactose free and gluten free. A vegan yoghurt that your gut loves. I hope you will enjoy it as much as I really did! Do share your outcome in the comment below.
Lots of love
