“Don’t put it on your skin if you wouldn’t put it in your mouth.”

It makes sense. I figured. I took a closer look at the ingredients of the products below.

I can take it from face value that they contain absolutely no harmful chemicals. NO parabens, NO phthalates, NO SLS. No SLES. Most are close to 100% totally absolutely natural. Oh, I see the green-light in going Natural and getting Down to Earth with Human Nature Moisturizing Shampoo and Conditioner!

I have been feeling better than before since I embarked on cleaneating. I have detoxed my kitchen and now it is time to also detox my bathroom, laundry room and make up room with products that are made with natural and possibly organic ingredients. Never take it lightly the effect of chemicals penetrating through our skin into our bloodstream. So much for cleaneating yet we introduce toxic on our skin. No more dirty looks!

The sound of running hot water….. There I was standing under the shower hose; washing my lustrous hair with this newly introduced Human Nature Moisturising Shampoo with CreamFoam. The first sight of the content looks runny, pretty light in consistency I must admit. I thought it looked like some diluted body lotion. So I recalled the advice that was given to me and obeyed. I gave the shampoo a good shake before unscrewing the lid open and poured it onto my palm. I did what I normally would do and that is to add some water and create some lather before transferring it to my hair. Giving it a good shake is important to ensure all its natural ingredients/contents are mixed well before usage as the contents may have separated in standing position. Chemically laden shampoos tend to bind the ingredients better than natural ones ;) I used to love foams and in fact wasted so much water to since my hair. So have a think about it!

I noticed there was not as much lather compared to those of chemical shampoos. Yea for sure this was expected because it is free from chemical surfactants like sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) and sodium laureth sulfate (SLES). I really do not mind having to shampoo my hair with less foam as I feel a lot safer knowing that SLS and SLES are not present to strip protective oils and moisture of my skin and cause any irritants in the long run. After all more foam doesn’t mean it cleans better!

What I experienced was that it did lather up more at the beginning but as I continued to massage my hair and scalp more and I found that the lather got lesser. I found it was easy and I take shorter time to rinse my hair. Less time in the shower than before. Less water goes down the drain. No harmful toxic chemicals go down the drain into the ecosystem too.

As for the conditioner, the consistency is creamier / thicker than the shampoo. Easy to use, easy to rinse and leave my hair tangle free.

I was able to use this trial-size (50ml) shampoo and conditioner up to 3 times and in my humble opinion it is pretty to short of a period to really know the effect on my scalp especially for the shampoo. Which brings me to the next point, I noticed about my scalp after using this shampoo – resulted in a flaky scalp..oh no! As this is the first time I switched from a chemical shampoo to a natural shampoo, so I figured my scalp may need some time to adapt to its natural ingredients.

This shampoo is amazing in leaving my hair so so soft and tangle free all days, all nights long. I love it! Thanks to its virgin coconut oil for an extra dose of softness and its avocado oil with omega-3 for rich moisture. Besides dry hair, this product is suitable also for chemically treated hair.

In addition to the softness it gives to my hair, I also love the scent of mandarin in the shampoo. It gives me the sense of relaxation, reminiscent of a spa session..bringing spa experience life in my own bathroom. That’s a bonus, indeed. However, I do wish someday they may consider producing fragrance free shampoos as more and more people are becoming intolerance to fragrances in body care products. It does trigger some allergic reaction to some. Those with no intolerance to fragrances issues may find themselves falling for the scent ;)

Human Nature Moisturising Shampoo comes in two versions: Mandarin Fresh and Lush Vanilla. I only tested the Mandarin Fresh.. At the time of product enquiring, all Lush Vanilla was sold out. As I understand it is back in stock, I may consider trying Lush Vanilla next.

In terms of pricing and sizing, they are two options for each shampoo and conditioner:

MANDARIN Moisturizing Shampoo with CreamFoam - 200ml at RM22.90 per bottle

MANDARIN Moisturizing Shampoo with CreamFoam - 500ml at RM44.90 per bottle

MANDARIN Moisturizing Conditioner - 200ml at RM22.90 per bottle

MANDARIN Moisturizing Conditioner - 500ml at RM44.90 per bottle

They are surprisingly affordable and if you were to compare to the ordinary supermarket products they are about the same price but the great news is they are without the nasty chemicals and potentially side effects.

Some points to highlight:

· CREAMFoam Technology for nature's nourishment

· Philippine coco nectar for vitamins, minerals, & amino acids

So what’s my verdict?

I love this shampoo. It has so much more pros than cons. I will have to test it for a longer transition period and see the condition of my scalp. What I like about Human Nature products: Besides being harmful chemicals free, they are social enterprise, fair trade, environmentally friendly, pocket friendly brand of products. This makes me smile. So Yes, I will purchase a bigger bottle of the shampoo and conditioner :)

Point to Note:

When making the switch from a chemical shampoo to a natural one, some may experience scalp irritations. For this fact, I may want to monitor the progress or outcome over a longer period (2-3 weeks) and see if my scalp improves or not. Initial scalp irritations may be due to the detoxification from sudden chemicals withdrawals. I suppose, our body needs time to adjust to the natural ingredients. After all it has abused for years with chemical products. Oh dear!

Human Nature is exclusively distributed by Down to Earth Enterprise (MY SSM Reg 002055492-D). I have chatted with one of them and she was very helpful and kind. You can contact them via Facebook to enquire more should you need to and they will actually reply to you.
